Daily Challenge: Trust and Deceit

It's been a while since my last post. Work and life had rendered me uninspired and suffering from a severe case of photographers block. Then someone suggested that I challenge myself by choosing a theme and taking and posting a daily photo. So the Challenge is this. Every day I will chose a random word submitted by you my friends and I will then take a photo inspired by that word. Photo can be artistic using a photographic style or particular camera/lens setting or it can be editorial, my own interpretation of the word. There were two words suggested for today. Lisa suggested both words! She'd obviously had not experienced a great day yesterday!! All day today I wondered if I'd ever be able to meet the challenge. I was doubtful, then tonight on the way home, in one freaky incident I found an interpretation for both words indicated below.

TRUST

Daily when I get on the elevator to get to my condo, I put trust in the elevator and all its mechanical aspects. I expect the door to close and for the ride to be smooth to whatever floor I chose. Well this evening that trust was misplaced. As I rode the elevator up with a neighbour, the elevator made some strange noise. Now this is not the first time so I did not think twice. As the individual exited on the 10th floor, he smiled and said nervously "That didn't sound good, I'm glad this is my floor, good luck!" The doors closed and my journey continued towards my home several floors up, but only for a few seconds, then the elevator stopped and jerked, somewhere between 10 and 11th floor. Motor went off, fan shut down and lights flickered but stayed on. I pressed the open door button hoping that the doors would open and that I might still be within reach of the 10th floor. But the doors remained closed tight. I then was faced with the second word of the day....

DECEIT


Being stuck in the elevator, I reached for the trusty help phone. I picked it up and heard it dial to the response centre..then who's voice should I hear? A trusty operator concerned for my safety? A police officer? Fire department representative? Other emergency worker? No that would have been to obvious! I was greeted with a warm "Hello, you've reached xxx security services, all our operators are currently busy, your call is important to us, so please stay on the line and we will respond to your call as quickly as possible" upon which I was put on hold ...and the pièce de résistance? While on hold I was serenaded by the vocal stylings of none other than CELINE DION! AAAAHHHHH!!! I hung up, tried dialing again and same experience minus the Celine soundtrack..waited 10 minutes then just gave up! So needless to say the Emergency Help Phone..was not helpful in an emergency! I was deceived!

It took a few minutes of sheer panic and anxious call to the building superintendent, who's number was still in my phone's memory from a call several months ago (it's now in the address book!), and an hour wait for the Elevator Specialists !! to fix the problem deliver me safe and sound to the ground floor where I quickly placed my trust in another elevator which delivered me to my destination high up above the ground!
